Sillage — The trail left behind after you move through a space — Ask someone who enters a room shortly after you leave it
Why a perfume can last all day and still feel weak
Skin-close compositions, particularly musk and sandalwood-based ones, sit against the body rather than lifting off it. You will still find them at hour eight, but nobody two metres away will notice them at hour one.
That is not a flaw. For an office, a studio or a long-haul flight it is the correct behaviour. It is only a problem if you bought the bottle expecting a room-filling scent.
Why a perfume can project hard and disappear
Citrus and aromatic top notes are volatile by design. They evaporate quickly, which is precisely why they smell so vivid in the first ten minutes. If a composition is top-heavy and has little in the base, it announces itself and then leaves.
